Dear Kingscliff Rotary Club members and friends,

Due to construction of the new Cudgen Creek bridge next to Ed Parker Rotary Park in Kingscliff the 2016 Rotary Duck Race is postponed until late 2017. There are several OH&S issues and permit restrictions associated with the construction so the committee determined it would be best to postpone this annual event for one year.

We are currently discussing with Tweed Shire Council the opportunities and synergies that exist whilst these works are happening to complete the Ed Parker Rotary Park upgrades which our club has raised funds for.

Updates will be sent to you in relation to this.

In the meantime the duck race committee will not be resting, our plan for 2016 will be to seek district grant funding for the Cycle for Life event from Salt Village on August the 7th which will coincide with DonateLife Week which is the national awareness week to promote organ and tissue donation in Australia. In 2016, DonateLife Week will be held from Sunday 31 July to  Sunday 7 August. ? See more at: Coincidentally this is also a goal of the incoming District Governor for 2016/2017. We will announce more in the coming weeks, so save the date in your diaries.

Thank you in advance for your support of this proposed event.

Yours sincerely,
Rotarian Maggie-anne Leybourne
